Beer
Nelson is the only place in New Zealand where hops are grown commercially. As a result the Nelson region is home to twelve craft breweries and 14 brands of craft beer. We like to think of ourselves as the Craft Brewing capital of New Zealand. Our hops is also exported around the world. Many of the breweries offer tours and sampling. Pick up the Nelson Beer Trail brochure from reception. You can even walk to some breweries from the hostel
Bay Tours and Nelson Tours and Travel offer half and full day tours of Nelson's vineyards and craft breweries.
We like both companies because.....they are local, they will pick you up from our Hostel and they can customise a tour depending on your interests.
Stay with us and try delicious local food and drink

The Nelson region produces some great wine. There are around twenty eight boutique wineries, and many have cellar door tastings. Pick up the Nelson Wine Guide from Reception. It has a map and details of the vineyards that are open. Enjoy a great day out exploring and tasting in the Moutere hills and on the Waimea Plains
